With this third album, Arcade Fire were able to show the world their genius. Like their two previous recordings (which are also excellent), The Suburbs was acclaimed worldwide and even received a Grammy for "Album of the Year" (as well as the Brit Award, and Juno Award in the same category).
What striked me when I first listenend to this album was how orchestral the music sounded. With their seven members (and sometimes with the help of some guests), these Canadians imposed their style while managing a level of musicality not reached by many before them. The fact they use original instruments such as xylophones, glockenspiels, accordions, french horns, mandolin and even harp, give their indie rock style a second more festive layer.
Win Butler, with his truely unique voice, accompanied by a warm and powerful music, took indie music to the next level.
